3. Seedling will sprout in 10 to 14 days.

4. Mulch around the dahlia seedlings to keep weeds at by and the soil cool in the summer.

Fertilizer to make it bloom

The dahlia flowers will appear about 3 to 4 months after germination. When the buds appear, you may need to apply liquid fertilizer. Some people will place stakes in the stems to protect them from wind that will make the buds fall off. Dahlias grown from seed will produce tubers. These tubers can be separated and produce identical flowers as is.

Water requirement

@Floriferous

Healthy and mature dahlias are quite drought-resistant. However, you need to keep them well-watered for the best performance throughout the flowering season. If you are hand-watering, water the dahlias deeply once or twice a week. During warm and dry summers, it will probably need more water supply.

Why are my dahlias not blooming?

@Swan Island Dahlia

Dahlias are loved for their showy flowers with its stacked petals. It is unfortunate if dahlias do not flower. The most reasons for this is the lack of ideal watering. All types of dahlias require plenty of water and moist soil. Dry soil, a lack of water, and over-fertilizing will keep dahlias from blooming.
