This aster variety native to East Coast of Canada. Parasol white top can grow up to 5-feet in height. You can place them in full sun and moist soil. Can be called flat-topped white aster and umbellate aster, they have small and slender leaves with a distinguishable vein pattern.


Eurybia diavaricata (White Wood Aster)

This aster has a pretty set of leaves in that the lower leaves are shaped like a heart and elongated and serrated at their upper leaves. 

Usually can grow and found in many of the Eastern states from New England, right down to Alabama. They thrive in part shade to full shade areas. And this aster is also drought-tolerant, making it perfect for a dry shaded garden.


Symphyotrichum ericoides (Heath Aster)

This aster most grows in Canadian provinces, except East Coast, and about 39 states. White heath aster has features that many flowers packed closely together in clusters along the same stem with small leaves and giving it a bushy appearance. 

Place this plant in full sun. To know, heath aster is drought tolerant and can survive in various soil conditions.


Golden Rod Aster or Upland White Aster (Solidago ptarmicoides)

Maybe this aster variety can make you confused. Solidago ptarmicoides was re-classified as a goldenrod, although it's still in the Asteraceae family. And the plant is known to hybridize in nature with other goldenrods. 

This aster will be found on the East Coast of Canada, into Quebec, and all the way to Saskatchewan. They can grow in dry, full sun conditions and are commonly found in dry prairies and open woodlands.
