This plant has fleshy, dark green leaves for the most part and is a century-old houseplant due to its ease of care. With the right conditions, you can grow this plant both inside and outside your home. Seven of the many species are included in the following list:

Crassula ovata


Crassula ovata is the most well-known and beautiful jade plant. This arid-slope plant has been cultivated as an ornamental plant. In the winter, the oblong dark green foliage produces small star-shaped white flowers.

As a houseplant, it can reach height of 3 t0 6 feet and requires a warm, dry environment when grown outdoors.

Crassula ovata "Hobbit"


If you like Tolkien, this crassula ovata varieties will be your absolute favorite. This crassula ovata hobbit has green leaves with a tall cylindrical shape and sucker-like red border around the tip. Grows to a height of about 30 cm and can produce pink or white flowers in the winter.

Crassula Ovata Sunset


The following varieties is the crassula ovata sunset, which stands out with a shiny oval shape that changes throughout the year. This plant has a lovely green color that will eventually turn to a glamorous gold and then to a ravishing pink.

Crassula Multicava


Fairy crassula is another name for crassula multicava. This plant grows in the opposite direction, with fleshy green leaves. Cultivars with a purple underside but mostly green and pink highlights. This plant can reach a height of 6 to 12 inches. In autumn and winter, it will produce four petals.

Crassula Rupestris High Voltage


Crassula rupestris, also know as buttons on a rope or baby necklace, is a plant that grow like a long chain with clustered green leaves. Will each a height of up to 1 foot and take 5 to 10 years to mature.

Crassula arborescnes


Silver dollar plant or silver jade plant, which differs from crassula ovata in appearance. The silver ash leaves on this  South Africa native shrub grow close together and can grow up to 5 feet tall. This plant has fan-shaped leaves that are bluish in color.

Crassula Capitella Campfire


The campfire crassula is the most distinct and appealing variety. This succulent looks like a campfire with spreading leaves that can grow to be about 6 inches tall and is named for its beautiful colors ranging from green to orange to red.
